I’ve Just accepted Jesus….
NOW WHAT?
We are all excited about the decision you’ve made. More importantly, God is excited, too, and he wants you to get to know him better. So here are some steps you can take to help you grow in your faith.
Attend worship services like the ones at New Day, regularly. When you come, you will receive excellent teaching that will help you know what God is like, and what His purpose is for your life.
Talk to God every day. Tell him how you’re feeling; what questions you need answers to; anything on your mind. God loves to listen to and answer the prayers of His children.
Hang out with other Christians. Being with other followers of Jesus on a regular basis encourages us to stay strong in the decision we’ve made to live for God and helps us grow closer to Him. Joining a service team and attending fellowship events often at New Day is a great way to meet and spend time with other believers.
Read a little bit from God’s book – The Bible – every day. At New Day, we recommend the New International Version or the New Living Translation because they are easy to read and close translations from the original Greek and Hebrew. We also suggest that you read the book of John first because it’s about the life of Jesus and will help you to get to know God and his Son better.
Make plans to be baptized as soon as possible. Jesus directs all who become his followers to be baptized in His name. If you’re not familiar with the practice of baptism, you can find a message that Pastor Ed preached on the topic here. BAPTISM SERMON
Participate in special courses that teach the basics of Christian faith. New Day often offers special small groups or classes that teach different topics of Christianity. All such classes are advertised weeks in advance so that you can take advantage of them.
Join a Small Group. At New Day we have a number of ongoing Bible study groups that meet on different nights of the week (usually in a member’s home). Those who join one of these groups tend to spiritually grow in leaps and bounds. Studying a book of the Bible, or a Bible topic with other growing Christians not only accelerates spiritual growth, but it’s fun, and great new friendships are often developed.
IF YOU HAVE MORE QUESTIONS, REACH OUT TO PASTOR ED OR ANY OF OUR NEW DAY LEADERS. WE ARE ALWAYS GLAD TO HELP YOU FIND THE ANSWERS TO HELP YOU GROW IN YOUR FAITH.
